Complete Musicianship 3-Year Course

for children ages 4-8

Please read through this entire page prior to enrolling so that you understand the registration process and an overview of the three years of the LPM program.

Students must be 4 by March 1st 2025 to register for Let's Play Music this coming fall. Anyone younger can stay in Sound Beginnings one more year!

1st Year

August 2025 to May 2026

Up to 9 children in each class.

Classes are once per week for a total of 30 classes.

Let's Play Music is a 3-year program of educational, musical fun for children ages 4-8! Children begin the program between the ages of 4-6 and graduate when they are 6-8. At each class, children will be singing, ear training, experiencing rhythm/beat, reading music on the staff, playing multiple instruments (tone bells, autoharp and rhythm instruments are 1st year focus; adding piano in 2nd/3rd Year), learning music theory, composition, and forms of classical music. All of this is done through play and full body involvement!

First Year focuses on developing internal skills (rhythm, audiation, pitch development, etc), Second Year adds the keyboard to all these skills, and Third Year goes deep into the awesome world of composition.

All together, Let's Play Music is about creating a "complete musician" so that children not only play music but understand the language of music.

If you have not yet watched the LPM overview video, I highly recommend doing so! It gives a wonderful glimpse into the scope/sequence of LPM.

Let’s Play Music First Year Overview

Class time choices for 2025-2026:
Thursdays 4:15-5:00pm Central
Thursdays 6:15-7:00pm Central

General calendar:
Early August – Mandatory Parent Orientation (1 hour)
Mid August through early December – 15 Red Balloons lessons
January through early May – 15 Blue Bugs lessons
Let’s Play Music 1st Year Recital – mid May

Class duration: 45 minutes a week (2rd Year is 50 minutes; 3rd Year will be 55 minutes)

Parental involvement:

Parents attend twice per month in 1st Year on all odd numbered lessons (Lessons 1, 3, 5, etc) and assist with once-per-week tone bell practice at home. In 2nd and 3rd Year, parents will attend once per month and assist with piano practices at home 5 times per week.

Tuition:

$480 for the year (breaks down to $240 per semester)

--An $80 non-refundable deposit is required by March 31st to secure your child’s spot. This will be put toward the tuition balance so that $400 will remain when classes start. The remaining balance of $400 *can* be paid in four monthly installments of $100 ( due on Lessons 1, 5, 9 and 13 of the fall semester). If you decide to pull your registration from LPM prior to classes starting, the $80 deposit will be retained.

--Let's Play Music is a 3-year program in its entirety. Registration for Let's Play Music is per year. Upon registration, it is anticipated that you plan to the best of your ability for your child to complete all 3 years of the Let's Play Music program. If you are unable to complete all 3 years, there will be an early withdrawal fee of $80, as I cannot give your place to another student due to the musical knowledge progression of the program.

--When choosing your class time, please keep in mind that attendance for Let's Play Music is of utmost importance as the program advances in knowledge quickly. Students should strive to attend at least 13 of the 15 classes per semester. Please also plan to stick to the same class time all three years of LPM; though if you need to move, someone is likely to want to switch with you!

Registration for 1st Year opens on Saturday, March 1st!

Registration is a 2-step process:

1) Register your child with corporate LPM by going online to reserve their spot and pay for your child’s materials ($91/full set or $25/sibling set). Note: Purchase of materials is required to reserve your child’s place.

2) Pay $80 non-refundable deposit by March 31st. Payable to Katie Shannon via cash, check, PayPal or Venmo. Can be slipped into Katie's studio tuition dropbox or mailed to P.O. Box 796, La Porte, IN 43652.

Enrollment Instructions

To register for LPM 1st Year, go here.
My enrollment ID is 38729.
On your preferred class time, click "Enroll" and log in with the username and password you have used in previous years. It is important to use the same email address, as the digital download music albums on the app are all tied to that account.
You'll then go through the steps to register and purchase materials for 1st Year.
